Let's Do Something (LDS) is an
organized, autonomous, non-profit, non-political social
organization, established in 2002, and formally
and legally registered at District Administration Office Kathmandu,
Nepal on 18 May 2004. LDS is
affiliated with Social Welfare Council of Nepal as well. The
organization was created and established and solely managed by the
dedicated, enthusiastic and energetic house-wives, who dared to
cross the limit of the threshold of their houses with a motto to
do something good and useful for their community and there by to
contribute in the social upliftment. The members and the management
team of the LDS are in their mid 30s-40s, who contemplated to
have their greater roles and responsibility towards their
family, children and the neighbors. Nevertheless they have
spared their time, energy and resources for the destitute,
marginalized, underserved and vulnerable men, women, children,
adolescents and youths in and around their community.
The LDS has initiated its activities by introducing the Yoga
health classes for the women of different ages ranging from
20-50 years in the locality. The LDS has hired an expert/teacher
to conduct the class and other facilities
to run the class. Side by side of the Yoga class, it has
launched other community welfare program for these women. The
discussion and counseling on various pertinent issues are also conducted for the women.
LDS has conducted literacy and health classes for the street and
poor children. Over 50 children of 5-18 years of age receive
free
education and health information daily for 5 hours. The
children are also taught to keep themselves clean, tidy and be
develop healthy behavior. Free educational materials and stationeries as
well as tea and snacks are provided daily to them by the
organization.
Goals
Lets Do Something is always prepared and committed for the creation and
cleanliness of healthy, happy, well-informed and disciplined society by
implementing various development programs related to
environment, health, education, children's welfare, skill
development and income generation programs and improvement and
of the deteriorating condition of the
environment.
